In the past, Nigeria faced a significant HIV epidemic with 1.8 million infected individuals. Despite substantial U.S. government investments and efforts by institutions like UNN College of Medicine, many researchers lack support for grant applications. Ezeanolue’s project, in collaboration with University of California San Diego (UCSD), aims to enhance research administration at UNN to increase its capacity as a grant recipient. Dr. Gregory Aarons, a UCSD professor, became involved after meeting Ezeanolue and being impressed by his community-based approach to HIV prevention and treatment, particularly for pregnant women.
