Brief About Ifeyinwa Nnakenyi

Dr. I.D Nnakenyi is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Pathology at the College of Medicine of the University of Nigeria Nsukka. She is also a Consultant Chemical Pathologist and Laboratory Director of the Antiretroviral therapy (HIV) clinic laboratory, at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu.

She is responsible for the delivery of quality laboratory services to the HIV positive patients which include screening and confirmation of HIV status, screening for other co-infections such as Hepatitis B and C virus, Tuberculosis; as well as monitoring of HIV viral load levels, CD4 T-cell count, renal function tests, liver function tests and complete blood count as per National HIV/AIDS guideline. Dr. Nnakenyi is also a Metabolic Physician with a research focus in Metabolic syndrome and its components-obesity, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia, which are all risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
